Greetings in Christ,
I wish all of us many years and great blessings as we just celebrated the feast day of St. Nicholas! It was a beautiful experience of faith and community that we took part in as a Parish Family, and as my first celebration of St. Nicholas here, one I will not forget.
I wish to thank once again everyone who worked to make this month’s Parish Ministry Night a great success. I am beyond thankful for the show of support both in running the event, and in participation. Selfishly I want to see even more of our Parish Family join us in this ministry so that the faith and joy of our community can continue to grow exponentially together.
Our Dance Ministry performed beautifully, dressed in their traditional garments at the Advent Health Christmas Tree Lighting. I am looking forward to seeing lots more of their hard work pay off in the near future.
Our Boy Scouts will have had their annual Christmas Party and Camp In this Friday into Saturday where they will have then marched in the Tarpon Springs Christmas Parade.
This Sunday is the collection day for the Angel Tree gifts! Please read the following message from Antonia Costas with our Day Camps Committee,
Greetings Saint Nicholas Family,
Thank you so much for supporting our local children this holiday season. In addition, thank you for selecting an angel name from our angel tree. As a positive reminder, please bring all your wrapped gifts with the angel name tag to Father Tryfon Hall after Divine Liturgy on Sunday, December 11th. The gifts will be distributed to our angels before Christmas. Thank you for bringing so much joy to our children. Have a blessed and renewing season of the Nativity!
This Sunday our Dance Ministry is running their Christmas Bazaar after Divine Liturgy!
Also this Sunday our Choir is running their Annual Carols in the Cathedral Concert, of which I have heard nothing but high praise for the level of dedication and beauty of this event.
Next Sunday the 18th our Hope & Joy Ministry will once again put on the Annual Parish Christmas Party! We hope you will join us for a fun evening!
My challenge for us this week is to choose a spiritually nourishing book to read during the rest of the Christmas fast. It could be the Holy Bible, the life and works of a saint like St. Porphyrios in “Wounded by Love”, or something else. The goal of this challenge is to aid us in this fasting period to turn our hearts and minds toward the things that are not of this world, but rather heavenly things.
