A Loved One Has Fallen Asleep in The Lord - Vasilios "Bird" George Himonetos

Vasilios "Bird" George Himonetos, 64, longtime resident of Tarpon Springs, fell asleep on November 4, 2021. He was born in Halki, Greece, to his parents, George V. and Triandafillia (Efstathiou) Himonetos and came to Tarpon Springs in 1962 from Halki. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School. After high school, he attended and played football at Westmar University in Le Mars, Iowa. He was a member of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Catheral and AHEPA. He is survived by his loving family, son, John Himonetos; two brothers, Alex (Kathy) Himonetos and Teddy (Pam) Himonetos; one sister, Alexandrina "Nitsa" Dick; three God sons, George (Stella) Himonetos, Louis Malisand and George Dick; and several more loving nieces and nephews. Bird loved all animals and the family would like to request, in lieu of flowers, to please consider a donation to the Suncoast Animal League at, www.suncoastanimalleague.org. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00, with a service beginning at 11:00, on Monday, November 8, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Interment will follow at Cycadia Cemetery. Vinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
